Studio P Studio Practices These practices are held at either dance studio locations. This is not a dress rehearsal. Parents are to drop off students due to limited space. These are optional for young preschoolers and toddlers. However we strongly recommend attending. This gives the students a chance to observe what will be going on during their production number. Students, enter the main doors wearing your ballet shoes (no dance bags, leave all extra clothing or shoes with parents). Come in to the larger room and quietly sit in front of the mirrors. At the end of the practice, no one is to leave the studio without a parent. At Commerce Square parents will enter through the main entrance and exit through the small door located in the actual dance room. We like to keep a steady flow of traffic. Students will not be allowed back into the lobby. We want to keep track of all students. At Greenwood the flow of traffic will be to enter the main door, go through the preschool room and into the large dance room and exit through the large dance observation area. Again children will not be allowed to leave without a parent in sight. We do not want any children in the parking lot alone. Safety is our first concern. Thank you for your cooperation.
Dress Rehearsals at Greenwood High School In order to participate in the recital, attendance at the dress rehearsal is required. Dress the same as will the night of the show. Studio directors watch the video afterwards to see what needs to be changed. This means fix your hair, put on make up, wear the correct tights, head pieces, and shoes as you will be the night of the show. Come fully dressed in the body suit of your first number. Dressing rooms are assigned by ballet dances. Please know the name of your ballet dance and look for the signs. You may bring small snacks backstage and water to drink (no soft drinks). However there should be no food in the auditorium. We only have enough room for one person per student in the dressing areas. Please do not invite guests to the rehearsal. Dress Rehearsals are very fun and relaxed. Feel free to sit in the audience in costume. Enjoy the show. But be back stage and lined up three songs before your number. There will be an actual taped line on the floor to stand on. We will practice the finale on rehearsal night.
Recital at Greenwood High School Please come half an hour before the show starts, wearing the body suit of your first dance. Please wear a shirt over costume to not ruin the surprise for the audience. Unlike the dress rehearsal, students in costume are not allowed in the auditorium and lobby the day of the show. Remember to only bring water bottles backstage (no soft drinks). Find your dressing area and remain backstage until three numbers before your number. Then line up just like dress rehearsal. After your first dance, quickly return to the dressing room and get ready for your next dance. Parents of preschoolers, you may want to bring coloring books to keep the young ones happy. Last year one group brought a small portable DVD player to watch a movie. We also have TV's set up backstage for you to observe the show while it is in progress. Each parent is responsible for her child backstage. Finale is a very important part of our show. At the end teachers will hand out a surprise and it would be a good time to take a picture with your teacher or one of the characters (during the show is very hectic for teachers). This is also the time for parents to hand out their surprise bags (if your class has organized this). You must come backstage to pick up your child.
Arriving Early Music begins at the times listed above. Please arrive at least 1/2 hour before your scheduled time. Arriving too early with preschoolers can make for a long day. It is suggested to put your make up on and fix your hair in the comfort of your own home. The auditorium doors will be close for cleaning between shows. The doors will open 45 minutes before the show times. However, backstage doors will remain unlocked. Please do not allow guest to enter through the backstage doors.
Flesh Colored Leotards There are no private dressing rooms available. Older dancer are to wear a flesh colored under their costumes. This is left to the discretion of the parents of preschoolers. If you have a tights change, wear your tights on the outside of your flesh colored leotard. This all should be put on in the comfort of your own home. There is no reason to be unclothed at the show. Do you have a flesh colored leotard you have out grown? Please bring into the studio to donate or sell.
Its a Celebration! Our grande finale is a very special part of our recital. As a studio, we present the children with an award. To help make this a more festive occasion, we ask each class to make a goody bag for each child in their class. This should be the size of a party favor bag and filled with candy and small party favors. Parents may bring in a bag of candy or treats or donate to the room mother. No more than $3 should be asked to donate to the bag. Many older students attend more than one class each week. Let the class know you have contributed to a goody bag already. Each child need only receive one goody bag. When the show is over, we close the curtain and have all students sit down. This is when we hand out the awards and room mothers hand out the goody bag. All students sit with their goody bag and wait for their parent to come back stage to get them. The goody bags help keep them quiet while waiting! This is a great time to have pictures with their teachers or characters.
Put Your Name in Everything Please write your name in everything. Every flower, every bow, every glove every pair of tights, every shoe ...... We find a box full of things after each show. Having your name in it will get it back to your teacher to safe guard. No name things are placed in a lost and found box. Please put your name and phone number in your camera bags. We find so many of these too!
Accounts In order to participate in the recital, all accounts must be paid. This includes recital fees ($45 per family due Mar 20) and tuition. Your name will not appear in the recital program if you have outstanding balances. Please see your teacher now.
